UM FORMS AUXILIARY POLICE FORCE
On 5 January 2018, the University of Malaya (UM) Auxiliary Police or also known as Polis Bantuan UM under the Security Office was officially launched. The ceremony was officiated by Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Abdul Rahim Hashim, Vice-Chancellor UM and witnessed by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) representatives and the University’s invited guests.
The crowd also witnessed the vehicle handover ceremony (comprising two cars and two motorcycles that conform to the PDRM vehicle specifications) as Superintendent Fauzilan Abdul Aziz, Director of UM Security’s Office received key replica from Mr. Mahamad Apandi Khalib, UM Acting Registrar.
Since its establishment in December 2014, the UM Auxiliary Police are grateful for the continuous support received from PDRM. Currently, there are 99 members of the force who have successfully completed intensive training sessions under PDRM to enable them to effectively carry out their duties in patrolling, crowd and traffic control as well as safeguarding the University campus.
