  • Programme syllabus are formed to meet International (RICS, BIFM, IFMA) and Local (CIDB) requirements, which aims to produce competent FM professionals equipped with current innovations and skills.

The programme seeks to develop competent facilities managers that are in control for both strategic and operational management of services and processes that support the core business of an organisation. This product will ensure that an organisation has the most productive working environment for their activities, utilise by its employees and their business community at large.

The programme also offers a scientific approach to facilities managers to innovate facilities management delivery, by focusing on using best business practice to optimise resources through soft and hard aspect of facilities management provisions.

Career Opportunity

Facilities managers deal with a diverse range of responsibilities, which are dependent on the structure and size of the organisation. They are employed in public and private sectors, as well as other industries locally and globally. The diversity of the work may be reflected in different job titles such as operations, estates, technical services, and asset or property manager.

Facilities managers are involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations, particularly in relation to buildings and business premises. Likely areas of responsibility include the following:

  • procurement and contract management;
  • building and grounds maintenance;
  • utilities and communications infrastructure;
  • space management.
  • cleaning;
  • catering and vending;
  • environmental sustainability, health and safety;
  • security;
  • helpdesking
Course Structure

Minimum          : 1 year (2 Semesters + 1 Special Semester)
Maximum         : 4 years (8 Semesters)

Entry Requirement
  • Bachelor’s in Built Environment or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline with CGPA of 3.00 and above; or
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s CGPA of 2.7-2.99 can be considered if they meet at least one of the following criteria*; or
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s CGPA of 2.50-2.69 can be considered if they meet at least two of the following criteria*; or
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s CGPA of 2.10-2.49 can be considered if they meet the following criteria:
    1. Graduate of the University of Malaya; AND
    2. Possess relevant work experience at least five (5) years or have published in respective fields.


  • Other qualification approved by Senate from time to time


  1. Possess relevant work experience (one year);
  2. Have published in respective fields;
  3. Scholarship recepient;
  4. Graduate of the University of Malaya;
  5. Government agency staff.

A minimum score:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic): Band 5.5; or
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT) or 80 (IBT).
Intake Schedule

Semester 1 of the academic year commences in September while Semester 2 commences in February
